Introduced by Vice-President of UCID Adriana Vercelli Breddo room, talking with the author of a crucial season for the historical and spiritual journey of the Church will be the parliamentary Luigi Bobba, former National President of ACLI, Bishop Christopher Bodo , Vicar General of the Archdiocese and Fossale Pier Giorgio, Department of Culture of the Municipality. The conclusions will be drawn from Luigi Omodei Zorini , UCID Chairman of the Section of Vercelli, Association's organizers.
"In the era of globalization and secularization, the company has now become irreversibly multicultural, multiethnic and multireligious. To act as a ferment, the Church must set itself in new ways. Having reached the halfway point of fifty years since Vatican II, for evangelization of a world profoundly changed, there remains a courageous "CROSSING" along the "route" marked clearly by the Council and its "ferry." Father rises in his new book draws on personal memories and outlines an intense portrait of some the most charismatic figures that accompanied the Church and our society in the transition to the third millennium. Among the "ferry" met to remember the late Pope rises to Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini up to two people who paid with their lives for their witness of gospel love and perfect for a more just society, Archbishop Oscar Romero of San Salvador and Palermo Brancaccio district of the parish priest, Father Pino Puglisi .
Father Bartolomeo Sorge joined the Society of Jesus in 1946 and was ordained priest in 1958. He lived these years that first recounts in his book in so-called palaces, directing mrivista "The Catholic Civilization" in direct contact with some of the popes from Paul IV to John Paul II, not to mention Pope Luciani, who had designated as his successor to guide the Patriarchate of Venice.
But it also lived on the streets among the people of Sicily, in the years of mass killings of mafia and was one of the protagonists of the "Spring of Palermo." For this effort has had to live under guard for several years. A period which also recalls in his book through the figure of Agostino Catalano, his boss, Creative Commons, one of those true servants of the state, killed in the attack with Mafia Paolo Borsellino in Via D'Amelio.
